SAR-OBICS

AEROBICS CLASSES IN LONGLEVENS
Sar-obics is a sociable aerobics based exercise session. The aim is to get stronger and fitter, but to have fun whilst doing so. We start with a warm up and stretches and progress to higher impact and intensity with everyone working to a level suitable for them. We start at age 11 and go up to ladies in their 70s. Whatever level of fitness you have there should be a range of exercises for you to enjoy.
We progress to toning and strengthening muscles with a mixture of static floorwork and matwork and finish with some extended stretching to improve flexibility and prevent aching muscles.
Music
The music I play is a mixture of old and new. Most of it is good to sing along to - with the occasional Latin themed week thrown in to incorporate salsa type steps as well as other aerobic moves.
Getting There
The classes are held in the back hall of Kendal Road Baptist Church in Longlevens and can be accessed from the side door at the rear of the car park. Thursday evening classes are held in the main church – accessed by the main door to the front.
Click on the Multimap link below and locate the red circle. The Church is on the left as you drive down Kendal Road from Windermere Road.

If you are new to exercise and a little unsure about attending new classes, please be assured that these sessions are very low key and you will be given a very warm welcome.

A Little Bit About Sarah
The Sar behind the Sar-obics is Sarah Coleby. I am a 40 year old mother of two. I have been teaching aerobics for 3 years - having decided to retrain for this career move for many reasons. In the past I have found gyms quite intimidating and although I enjoy exercise there seemed to be a lack of "safe" low key aerobics classes in the neighbourhood. As I was thinking about my post children career choices and spending a fair proportion of my week running or swimming this seemed to be the perfect answer.
As I attend Kendal Road Baptist Church I knew that there was a perfect hall in the back and that there were mats left over from a previous exercise class just waiting to be used! I do feel that exercise is an important part of living a healthy life and the beauty of aerobics is that you really can do as much or as little as suits you.
I am not here to bully you, but will encourage you to work to your own needs and potential.
The classes are all really friendly and I can guarantee you will hear laughter at every session; you may also hear a few groans – but not many!
I meet all of the professional qualification criteria for an aerobics instructor: I have a current NVQ in Exercise to music, a certificate of emergency first aid and am a member of the Register of Fitness Professionals.
I really enjoy my job, so if you fancy a new start on the route to fitness or you want to improve your current levels of fitness come and join us.
